cheers both.

Right, I have had some success, resizing to 1024x1024 and all is ok for my skin and the panel finder. So why, if I have 2048 x 2048 and 4096 x 4096 skins working in the game on the Hampden, will my created skins in those resolutions not show up?

cheers

quick update, if I just save any 2048 or 4096 skins as .bmp's then they show up in game also, therefore I think maybe Bright was made only for 1024 skins which are 8-bit whilst 2048 skins are 24-bit. Soi wonder if there is a bright alternative or even a need for bright with skins higher than 1024 resolution?

NO! For God's sake you never have to run a 2048x2 or higher through the Bright plugin, just forget you even have it. :) ImageImage

Cheers Gumpy

Wish I had known that a week ago mate, would have saved me a load of grief ;)

I only did a little skinning about a year or two ago and at the time running it through Bright, converting to Indexed, etc was the way to go. Nigh on impossible to find any meaningful up to date tutorials anywhere dealing with skinning in IL-2, wish I had realised simmerspaintshop was closing, could have stored a load of info away :(

Thanks anyway, thanks also to Mick and Tyger for their help

regards

p.s Gumpy a was meaning to ask you as I saw a Lancaster skin at 2048x2048 for Doc's Grandslam version, it used Emel's excellent template. My question is Emel's template is in 1024x1024 format, I did not think you could scale up templates as say, a 1-pixel line is now more pixels in 2048 so you don't actually gain any finer details. It's not the same if you start with a 2048 and scale down though. Is that correct thinking as far as your aware?

Gents

Been playing around with making a template for the Whitley, early days yet, but have added a layer for panel lines. I am trying to draw them 1 pixel wide using the pen tool, this is the result

Image

The result is fine for horizontal and vertical lines but you can see the jagged line for anything at an angle. What's the best way to deal with these, please

For panel lines use the line tool for 1024 I recommend a 2 pixel width. Do it in a group folder and when done merge the folder contents.

Made in 2014, Stanislo internals
Thanks leperemagloire

I found a template over at SAS but it had no layers. I'm trying to make a 2048 template and learning as I go, I have some info on the Whitley so I will carry on mate, just as a trial really. Thanks for the links though.
