I've got some great long grass shots, need to prep them for 3d objects. I think next batch will be much crisper & from what I learnt from 1st batch will look much nicer

These are some very low res copies images & crops from the high res raw images.

It's just to show you the shots I took while I was away, + the finals will look but much much higher & crisp resolution

There is a fair amount of work to get these finished first into grass 3d then animated finally

So I'm working on IL2 even when I'm away 🙂

1. Copy the folder '! FLIES ANIM TEST 1' to your MODS folder

2. Add content of static_ADD.txt to your static.ini file
(at the bottom of the file is fine!)

ALSO...
3. Copy contents of MISSION folder to your IL-2 missions folder
4. Start IL-2, got FMB & open the Berlin_Anim-Fly_test_1.0.mis, here you can quickly find all new Grass objects

About :
Two different animated sized clouds/swarms of flies

...its just a test to try,
for now it has an excessive amount of frames to the animation (30 frames, tga's). There need not be this many frames, 8 - 10 would survise but for now until i optimise the frame count etc this works ok & can be used if you like ?

Now that I return, I do not fully understand ?
I thought I already did this within herb version?

I'm trying to catch up with work, as promised if this is something i have missed then I'll get it done

There seems to be little to no interest in this project at the moment so for now I'm moving my efforts elsewhere

:) No, no dearStrangelove the interest in the grass (and not just the smoke one ...) is there, I assure you! should be perfected, creating more limited intersections to give an appearance of three-dimensionality, it should be re-united to groups of different densities and above all distributed over a wide surface a rectangle of one hundred meters by fifty meters for example, such as to be quickly inserted on the sides of a track of flight. The most important scenario has always been the airport one, and unfortunately it has always been very neglected by the modders, with very little progress in these fifteen years .. the runways are still roughly textured. This adds to the horrible roads and railways that curve at right angles or at most saw-toothed ... not to mention the forests that fade at low altitude .... How many essential things have been neglected in all these years ... think that the absurdly vertical columns of smoke were modified only five years ago because they assumed a transversal course that was obviously more natural .. and it was so easy to modify them ... excuse my outburst .. born of the love I feel for our magnificent simulator ! Thank you for the many things you give us! ;)

pLENTY of interest Doc. You should try making those blank airfield plates into grass. Just static. No animation ;)
