Max nParticles

Anybody know what's the maximum nParticle count for smoke / dust / fire effects? Can't seem to find a definitive answer. From what I've seen it seems to be 256 but not 100% sure. Thanks.

depends :? if you have goggles on and a mask you can stand quite a lot before your eyes start watering and you start to choke !
if not well pretty much straight away anything is too much :lol:

Always possible to increase the amount of particle / files (not single particles) for effects in Java. Did do this for air burst nuke.
So I guess it's unlimited ?but need to layer files & of course will slow system

... yep, I think it is 255, but in any case, to avoid fps probs from way too generous effects mods, I always have TexFlags.UseClampedSprites = 1 (limiting polygon count, Sprite objects and effect), in my Conf.ini ... ;)

Well we ain't taking about dinosaur computers here. There's a reason why I got the HD mod & Barnesy's highish poly models. I upped most of my .eff files to nParticle=256 in my FXEvolution then checked with fps START SHOW on blackdeath. No FPS loss & no nParticle related clamped errors in the log. Next will be nParticle=512 and check for FPS & clamped errors. No need to keep IL2 stuck in 2009.

I wonder if in the conf.ini if effects= 2 raises the nParticle count over =1?

... well, you weren't specific as to the king of puter, so sorry for my "dinausorus" reply, rest assured that in the future I won't forget that detail ... :roll:

Just in case you'd be interested, I run IL2 with an Intel Core I7 4790 K + GTX970 Strix overclocked + 16 gigs of ram ... :mrgreen:

Then why use TexFlags.UseClampedSprites = 1? Cause your FPS drops? I have NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 + i3-7100 CPU @ 3.90GHz + 16GB ram and IL-2 runs as smooth as silk in maxed out settings unless there's a million
3D trees populating the map.
