Hi dog, I'll pop back when I have time later,

So to see hierarchy in 3ds max I press the H key

I looked online & I think for GMax you need to use modify option? Try that.

I am busy right now but I will be back later

Don't worry !

Key H hiearchy shows me different file names from what i saved in scene folder . some files will show just their correct name in H and some all 8 as per image above . Modifier drop down menu has 8 options with subs .

Hi Dog, i think you have done really well so far...

i can see you understand the process & I think perhaps the interface for GMax is the only thing holding you back which you will get better with in time
and as i am using 3ds max i think now its good to give you a 3ds

so i have prepared this House for you
please download : https://archive.org/download/HOUSEFINIS ... ED_3DS.rar

There is a LIVE & DEAD meshes & LOD's associated shadow meshes & collisions ,& textures all ready , textures are a separate subject & so ive converted the original from turbosqid to indexed colour tga's & then created the LOD textures.
So there is now 512x512 tga (SkinHi) , 64x64 tga (SkinMid) , 32x32 tga (SkinLo)
& for the DEAD mesh there is 512x512 tga (DamageHi) , 64x64 tga (DamageMid) , 32x32 tga (DamageLo)

just load either LIVE or DEAD into Gmax & take a look at the structure
HOUSE-(LIVE)_IL-2_1946.3DS
HOUSE-(DEAD)_IL-2_1946.3DS

When the object is destroyed within an IL-2 session the LIVE mesh disappears & then the DEAD mesh takes its place

The last part will be exporting the LIVE & DEAD to .msh format with Fatduck's exporter, get that here > viewtopic.php?f=44&t=240
Then creating our IL-2 Mat files & porting into IL-2 & making sure everything is working ok etc

there is some misunderstanding ,i already have this house and i dont want to make destroyable objects . I need to learn how to remove each single texture from the house . i've spent all day trying using modify and modifier options without knowing what im doing . Is there a tutorial somewhere which explains what i have to do to to complete what you placed above in your last image ?

No misunderstanding, you do not already have what I have sent you. As said, the house in the link is ready for IL2 & if you open it you will see that is comprised of all objects needed & it's meant for you to look at it & learn which objects are parents & children . Did you open it & look ?

It's standard that IL2 buildings have a LIVE & DEAD mesh as to not have them would be a bit strange. You want to learn how to import static objects & so I am teaching you the proper & I hope correct method.

For Shadow & collision.
regarding the mapping, it's not absolutely necessary to remove the mapping or textures for the shadows or collision , when exporting it should ignore it ...however it's important you learn how to do this yourself.

Within 3dsmax I use modifier to remove mappjng. In Gmax I'm not sure.

So go ahead open the meshes I sent before & see how they are connected.
& for now just leave the mapping for the objects & clone the objects you need to create shadow & collision parts

It will take time. Much of what you have learnt here in 2 days took me and others much much longer because I had to learn without a teacher & by looking at original objects. Try to be patient & don't expect it to all happen so fast, you're already learning a process much faster than I & I'm sure others have done.
