Hi Dog1,

mick would be good to find the tutorials you need
if no one finds anything , i'll try to find something,

it is possible to download many objects for free now & at low poly too.
youtube is obviously good for learning how to create the objects & mapping them with textures etc but then making it compatible & ready for IL-2 would be a great video
so a video tutorial of creating a static object & putting it into IL-2, i think that would be really great for people, i will do this & post it here
i dont think ive ever seen a video like this ?

... may be you should start with downloading several objects, to see how they are made, for ex here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/ ... #msg573094

... then read a few tutorials from here:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,202.0.html

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,207.0.html

hello
I am banned at SAS ,so i cannot read anything posted on forums . I approached Tomoose at M4T who made figures and a couple of vehicles some time back and he advised me to download the free GMAX version and make questions at SAS which i cannot . There is also a tool needed called Buggy script which prepares the files for IL2 so they appear . Where can i download the free GMAX to start with and do i make my questions to MICK for guidance and the steps staring from scratch ? i wish to make RAF and Japanese pilots which are missing for the moded 412.2m version .Tomoose made the RAF officers amongst others I have the art work from Osprey to copy .
Dr Strangelove a video would make it a walk in the park , when do you expect the video to be available enabling me to follow up .

Hi Dog1, I don't use GMax, I use 3ds Max ver 11.
GMax is fine for modelling & will do everything you need.

Creating an object in 3d can be a complex process but usually for static there are less detailed and therefore not as complicated as aircraft or ship. Still the 3d creation is a process in itself. Then preparing then porting objects into IL2 is another.

so as Mick has suggested taking a free 3d model download and porting it into IL2 is a very useful skill. Many objects you find online are are easily ported as long as they are not too high poly / detail. I will try to walk you through this process with a video tutorial.

Basic modeling in GMAX
There are a many many tutorials easily found for basic 3d modeling.
Take a look at this for modeling. >>> https://youtu.be/UzvwA6t2oeI

creating a video tutorial for this will take time & right now i am trying to get a big project finished, i do think its an important video to create & it will help many ...
being able to put almost any objects into IL-2 1946 is a great thing & unique to '46, once you have mastered the process its certainly one of the more defining aspects to this sim & community

as you can see...

i have downloaded and then ported a simple house into IL-2
you can see it has a shadow + It also has collision & also a dead mesh,

so...
Dog1 please download this https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d ... use/501699
& then load it into Gmax & then create a screen shot with this stage done, then we''ll continue

Please lets do this one step at a time, thanks
